“Extraction: Tracing the Veins” Conference Recordings Online

Large-scale resource extraction is responsible for half of the world’s carbon emissions and more than 80% of biodiversity loss. The recent conference “Extraction: Tracing the Veins” considered extractivism and post-extractive futures. Recordings of the presentations and panels can be viewed on the conference website.
Extraction was an online conference that originally ran in June and July 2020. The event included comment-based discussion of the videos presented by conference delegates on a range of topics that sought to re-examine extraction and its contested place in contemporary capitalism.
Please note that while the videos remain available as an archive of the event, the comments are no longer frequently monitored and posts may not be responded to. Specific questions about presentations or the event in general can be directed to the Political Ecology Research Centre at masseyperc@gmail.com
Extraction: Tracing the veins was co-hosted by the Massey University Political Ecology Research Centre (PERC) and the Wageningen University Centre for Space, Place and Society (CSPS)
